CRISP PI honored by the Semiconductor Industry Association

Jason Cong, Distinguished Chancellor’s Professor of computer science in the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering, has won the 2019 University Research Award from the Semiconductor Industry Association, in collaboration with the Semiconductor Research Corporation. The association recognizes those who lead the world in semiconductor technology and chip-enabled technologies, whose accomplishments serve as a model for researchers everywhere. Cong will receive the award for excellence in semiconductor design research. Specifically, he is being honored for his achievements over the past 30 years in advancing the industry’s interconnect estimation and optimization, customizable computing with the use of FPGAs, and high-level synthesis from C/C++ to RTL. Also the director of the Center for Domain Specific Computing, Cong’s research interests include electronic design automation, energy-efficient computing, customized computing for big-data applications, and highly scalable algorithms. He is also the director of the VLSI Architecture, Syntehsis & Technology Laboratory.
